After redistricting in 2022, District 8 gain new neighborhoods and lost some. The newly redrawn District 8 now consists of Cabrillo, Meadowview, Detroit, Valley Hi, Delta Shores, Deerfield/Mesa Grande, and North Laguna Creek.

District 8

is one of the most diverse districts in the City of Sacramento with immigrants, refugees and natives - 34% Asian American & Pacific Islanders, 30% Latino, 18% African American/Black and 11% White. More than 12 languages are spoken here, representing diverse families with cultural origins all over the world. 

The district is also home to some of Sacramento’s most celebrated cultural landmarks and community pioneers, including: The Levar Burton Park in Meadowview, where the actor and his family grew up; Martin Luther King Jr. Library, the city’s oldest public library; two most diverse and busiest business corridors Florin Road & Mack Road; and home to the Titans - Luther Burbank High School & Vikings - Valley High School.
